In just his second season since taking over the Washington State football program Mike Leach has already accomplished a huge milestone. The Cougars have gained moderate relevance again this year, reaching a 6-6 record and most importantly earning their 1st bowl trip in 10 years. The Cougs have failed to appear in a bowl game since the 2003 Holiday Bowl victory over Vince Young and the Texas Longhorns. In addition to the bowl game Leach also brought home the Apple Cup for WSU in his first season.
This Gildan Holiday Bowl matchup against the Colorado State Rams of the Mountain West Conference will be no cake walk. ESPN will be airing this as the Kickoff Game to the Bowl season and they wanted to start off with a bang! Colorado State will showcase RB Kapri Bibbs, who leads the nation in touchdowns with 28. Dont let those numbers fool you into thinking the Rams are nothing but a power football team that will ground and pound. The Rams also boast the nations 18th leading passer, Garrett Grayson, who threw for 3,327 yards this season. The Cougars will feature Mike Leach’s famous Air Raid Offense led by QB Connor Halliday.
