Evidently it has been a busy day for the Seahawks. According to ESPN.com, the Seahawks have traded Tarvaris Jackson to the Bills for an “undisclosed draft pick.”
Other notable transactions:
Terminated vested veteran contracts: Alex Barron, Deuce Lutui, Terrell Owens
Waived with the designation as injured: Jameson Konz, Lazarius Levingston, Roy Lewis, Cameron Morrah
Waived: Phil Bates, Edawn Coughman, Donny Lisowski, Ron Parker, Tyrell Sutton
I am one of those few people that stuck up for Jackson on a regular basis. My current job involves advocating for families that have essentially been shat on by the social service system, so defending what many call “mediocrity” almost seems second nature (see prior rants sticking up for the Mariners as well). That having been said, I cannot even justify keeping him around, regardless of how much respect I have for the guy. He was clearly the #3 quarterback and it made no sense to pay him as much as they would pay him ($4 mill for 2012 with a $4.7 mill cap hit). Many people still see Portis as a possible development prospect, which I don’t see happening given Wilson’s age and productivity.
Evidently WordPress was having issues with HTML during the initial draft of this story. To give credit where credit is due, here is the link to that story:
