The Sounders continue their battle for the Cascadia Cup tomorrow against the Vancouver Whitecaps. The Sounders are the defending champions of the cup. The Cascadia Cup is a challenge between the Seattle Sounders, Portland Timbers and the Vancouver Whitecaps. They all play each other twice and whoever has the most points throughout takes home the hardware. The Timbers are currently in first place with 4 points; the Caps are in second with 2 points and the Sounders in last with 1 point. There are still four games to be played in the competition, so I have great faith in the Sounders.
The Sounders are rebounding from a week full of disappointments. First a loss to Sporting KC in penalty kicks for the Open Cup Championship. Which I must say is a little questionable about the referees call. I got a chance to look at all 11 of the PK’s taken that night and it sure did look like the two goalkeepers were off their line every time with every shot. I guess it just comes down to getting the right call. Sometimes I wonder if the referees are watching the same game as the rest of us or just calling whatever they feel like calling. The second disappointment was after tying the game against the Quakes with 3 minutes in stoppage time left the Sounders conceded a corner and the Quakes made them pay.
I think the Sounders have a pretty good chance of getting a win tomorrow. They will be rested from a rough week last week and ready to take on the MLS. There is also a new face on the sidelines. Mario Martinez the Honduras midfielder joined the Sounders today at practice. I feel with his addition along with Tiffert’s addition the Sounders midfield will be strong. I’m excited to see the Sounders focus on winning a MLS Cup trophy and make it far into the playoffs.
LET’S GO SOUNDERS!!! SOUNDERS TILL I DIE!!!
