Seahawks add Lutui, Ruud and keep Lewis

The Seahawks picked up two good players, Guard Deuce Lutui and LB Barrett Ruud. They also agree to terms to keep CB Roy Lewis.

Here is a little info on each:

Deuce Lutui – Guard – 6′ 4″ 338 lbs – 28 years old

Dude is a Beast. He played for Pete Carroll at USC and was an All American in 2005.  Deuce was drafted in 2006 by the Arizona Cardinals in the second round (41st overall.)

Barrett Ruud – Linebacker – 6′ 2″ 241 lbs – 28 years old

Good, solid linebacker. Finished college with a school record 432 tackles at Nebraska. Combined for 100+ tackles in 4 of his 7 seasons in the NFL.  Ruud was drafted in the 2005 2nd round by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (36th overall.)

Roy Lewis – Cornerback – 5’10”  198lbs – 26 years old

Lewis played locally for the Huskies, so we automatically like him and root for the guy to succeed.  He joined the league as an undrafted free agent by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2008. Roy has played for the Hawks since ’09. So far he has played in 32 games for the Hawks with 1 start, and has combined for 53 tackles, 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble.

  1. Love these pics, Rudd is a tackling machine, and Lewis keeps the secondary together!

    • I am very happy for TJ, and don’t at all hold his decision agsanit him. I hold it agsanit the Bengals. You don’t win 4 games and then say hey, let’s lose our 2nd best player, and replace him with a guy we drafted in the 3rd round and another guy who caught one ball last year. Or a guy [henry] who might just be in jail by the time Fall comes.’ A winning team brings back their 2nd best player, so that then they can trade their malcontent (Ocho), and *then* young guys can get experience. Or, give Graham a long term contract so that you can franchise TJ, and then at least get something in return for losing him. Seattle or Minnesota would’ve given up a 3rd rounder. Look at Carolina, they long term Gross so that they can franchise Peppers, and either re-sign him or trade him. We lose every year because we watch our best players walk away from the team without compensation, and then we replace through the draft’ rather than build through the draft.’ Now we have to use our picks to plug the holes created by our inept front office, rather than actually improving our overall talent level.
